Although the fall brings lots of school work and cooler temperatures the Virginia Beach Junior Shaggers haven’t forgotten those hot times at Junior S.O.S. and we are already preparing for next years party! What better way to start than having the current National Champion and 3 time Junior Champion Michael Norris visit our kids so they may learn from the best! That’s right Michael Norris (one half of the National Champion Team, Lee Ann Best is the other half) held a workshop on October 13th for the VA Beach Juniors hosted by Jan & Marshal Lyle in their new Shag room. Michael showed the juniors quite a few new steps and we were all impressed with his demonstrations! His presence among our kids meant a lot to them! His skills were quickly evident to all when he teamed up with Virginia Beach’s own Karen Garmon to demonstrate his National Championship form. Michael was very courteous and patient during the lesson, and he had time to relax with the juniors as well. Just the time they had to chat with him up close and personal is an invaluable experience. We really appreciate Michael Norris taking the time to spend with our juniors! Thanks Michael!! We will all long remember your visit to Virginia Beach.
Some of the Virginia Beach Junior Shaggers recently put on quite a show in front of a luncheon crowd at the award winning “Virginia Beach Bash.” Dancing to the theme “Shag into the Future” the kids showed off their shag steps to futuristic sounding music all choreographed by the multi-talented Karen Garmon. The demonstration was performed by Mark Horton, Samantha Slade, Grant Garmon, Meredith Bell and Sara Hemmings who teamed up with one of our more talented adults, Rick Benoit. These kids worked hard and it showed! You guys did great! Thanks again to Karen and the juniors for putting on a real “Shag’n to the Future” show! The crowd loved it!
Still ahead the juniors are planning to have a cool Yule time at our first annual Christmas party in December. Look for you there!
