Community Education

Response provides a variety of educational programs oriented toward sexual assault awareness and prevention. Programs with an asterisk* involve a fee.

Topics include:

  • Response services: A description of the local sexual assault crisis center services and the reasons it is in existence.
  • Sexual Assault Awareness and Personal Safety: Explanation of the crime of sexual assault and an examination of the controversial issues and myths surrounding the crime, as well as risk reduction techniques. These programs are appropriate for teens and adults, available at schools or community and religious settings.
  • "Some Secrets Hurt": Puppet show dealing with child sexual abuse prevention appropriate for children ages 7-12*
  • "Top Secret": Program for teens ages 12-17 focusing on awareness and prevention of sexual assault.
  • Employer Sponsored Programs: Developed to the specific needs of employee groups in the workplace, including prevention of sexual harassment and personal safety tips.*
  • Child Sexual Abuse/Incest Prevention: Available for adults as well as children.
  • "Creative Dating": Positive, upbeat information to help keep you safe.
  • Self Defense for Women: Classes to help women develop their ability to protect themselves.*
  • Date and Acquaintance Rape: Understanding this common problem.
  • Sexual Harassment: How to identify it, what to do about it.
  • Talks on Sexual Assault Issues to classes, clubs and groups. These are individually tailored and planned.

    • Professional Development

    Specialized programs are designed for professionals who work with sexual assault survivors as part of their professional or volunteer work. Included in this offering is police, medical, legal, clergy, social worker, counselor, court service worker training.*

    On Friday, October 23, 1998, Response will present Yvonne Dolan, a private practice psychotherapist from Golden, Colorado whose motto for survivors of sexual assault is: "Living Well is the Best Revenge!"
