Response Sexual Assault Support Services is a non-profit sexual assault crisis center serving the South Hampton Roads cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. Response is a certified United Way of South Hampton Roads agency.

The Response mission is to provide support, treatment and advocacy to persons victimized by sexual assault and lead the community toward the elimination of sexual violence.

Direct services are confidential and are at no cost to clients because of support from the United Way of South Hampton Roads, the federal Victims of Crime Act, the Violence Against Women Act, Public Health and Health Services, and funding from the Virginia Department of Health.

Direct Client Services

  1. 24 hour hotline.
  2. Companion program provides support to sexual assault survivors at hospital, police station, court.
  3. Office counseling for survivors and loved ones (partners, parents, roommates, friends).
  4. Outreach visits to sites when clients cannot come to our offices.
  5. Groups for survivors of sexual trauma, including rape, child molestation, other sexual assault.

Education

Community Education
Response provides a variety of educational programs on sexual assault awareness and risk reduction.
Professional Development
Training programs for professionals are also provided.


Volunteer Opportunities

Response depends upon volunteers to fulfill the mission.
