NORFOLK PACE

(Police Assisted Community Enforcement)

PACE is dedicated to creating safe and healthy neighborhoods in Norfolk through partnerships. Partners include citizens, businesses, religious and civic organizations, City workers, etc.

PACE is by no means a police program only, although it had its inception in community policing. PACE is really a philosophy rather than a program. PACE activities include such varied efforts as code enforcement, family violence prevention and intervention, crime prevention, the PACE Athletic League, drug awareness, community picnics, youth summer jobs, etc.

The oversight body for PACE is the PACE Support Services Committee, with representation from many citizen groups and City departments.

The working groups under PACE are Sector Teams, of which there are six in the city. These teams are made up of all appropriate partners within the given geographical area, and welcome participation.
