State and Local Hospitalization (SLH)


State and Local Hospitalization (SLH) provides direct payment to hospitals for indivuduals who are unable to pay for requireed medical services.

If you live with someone who is legally responsible for you, these people also must be unable to pay your medical needs. This includes spouses for each other and parents for children and stepchildren under age 18.


Medical Services Covered are limited to:

  1. Hospitalization
  2. Out Patient Surgery
  3. Emergency Room Visits
  4. Health Department Visits

In patient and out-patient doctor visits are not covered.

If you know you are going to be hospitalized or have out-patient surgery you can apply for SLH before hand. Or, you can apply for SLH within 30 days of your discharge or the date services were provided.

If eligible, you will be covered for 180 days.
