FSET
Food Stamp Employment and Training Program
Recipients of Food Stamps may participate in this program. FSET offers the following activities to enhance employability:
- Job Readiness workshops provide pre-employment information on preparation for work and general workplace expectations. Topics include self esteem, telemarketing, interview preparation, the complete application, networking strategies, budgeting, job retention, etc.
- Work Experience placements provide job seekers with the opportunity to develop basic work habits, establish recent work history and references, and to learn new skills or refresh old ones in a supervised setting.
- Job Search provides job leads, information on local employers, and involves a concerted job search effort through 24 employer contacts and registration with the local Virginia Employment Commission.
- Supportive services such as assistance with transportation or other costs may be provided to enable participants to gain or keep employment, take part in other FSET activities, or attend training or education programs. Assistance is based on availability of funds and approval of the employability plan.
