General Douglas MacArthur Army Leadership Awards

On May 8, 2003, the 16th Annual General Douglas MacArthur Army Leadership Awards were presented to 27 officers in ceremonies conducted in the courtyard of the Pentagon. These 24 company grade officers and three warrant officers represent the future of the United States Army. Their selection recognizes not only their proven leadership but their potential for future service in the United States Army and the United States Armed Forces. Embodying the principles of Duty, Honor, Country, these officers come from the active Army, the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. Selection is by an official panel of U.S. Army Officers.

The awardees and their families were honored over three days with events and activities. Highlighting the program on May 7, 2003, was the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and a luncheon with the Senior Military Correspondent for Knight Ridder Newspapers, Mr. Joseph L. Galloway.

Presenting the awards during the ceremonies on May 8, 2003, were General Eric K.
