Student Inters Support Education Programs

Intern Tim Damazyn

This past summer and fall, five Virginia university students participated in the MacArthur Memorial’s student internship program. The interns included Jacquelyn Owens and Carl Jones from Old Dominion University; Laurie Richter and Rich Logan from Virginia Wesleyan College; and Tim Damazyn from Longwood University. All of the students received hands-on, real world experience working with the Memorial’s artifact or document collections or our education program.

One of our interns was Longwood University senior and Suffolk, Virginia resident, Tim Damazyn. Using his knowledge of United States history and computers, Tim produced a comprehensive informational program highlighting our World War II "Home Front" program. His productions included student activity sheets and an interactive learning program for our web site.

Along with other students from Longwood, Tim and his project at the MacArthur Memorial were featured in the school’s newest student informational booklet. The MacArthur Memorial is always interested in assisting students with internships. Information about internships is available by calling the Memorial at (757) 441-2965.
