April 16 - May 9Hampton Roads Premiere -On the elegant deck of a beach house on Fire Island, a brother and sister and their spouses attempt to celebrate the Fourth of July. Through diversions of food, Broadway showtunes, crossword puzzles and charades, these four individual souls attempt to find the meaning in their hollow lives, fears and love. McNally brings together characters that are witty and immediately recognizable, drawn with such stunning clarity that the play resonates long after the stage lights have faded. This comic and incisive portrait of modem America is considered to be one of Terrence McNally's most ambitious and accomplished works.
